2008 12U, 8U, and 7U Divisional Play

  1. There needs to be eight or more total teams before you setup a two division league. (12U, 8U and 7U would have 2 divisions). Rick Stocker is empowered by the Board to name the divisions. In this document, we’ll refer to them as Blue Division and White Division.

  1. Splitting Teams between 2 divisions -
    1. The first year the team should be drawn out of a hat.   If happen to be eight total teams, then the first four teams drawn would be in one league, (White), the next four would be in the other league, (Blue).
    2. In future years, there would not be realignment.
    3. If the two leagues were balanced (for instance, 4 team each) and there was a need for additional team (for instance a 9th team) you would draw to see if it was White or Blue.

  1. Draft Procedures in 2 division leagues -
    1. You would still draft players as a total league.
    2. All other draft procedures would remain unchanged.

  1. Number of Games, Intra, Inter, etc. -
    1. No team should play another team more than three times during division play.
    2. If you had two four team divisions for example.

                                                               i.      You would play each team in your league three times

1.      This helps with tie breakers

ii.      Then play the team in the other league twice

                                                            iii.      Total of fifteen games

    1. The standing in each division should count all games played.

                                                               i.      Tie breakers should be head to head results between the two teams (primary reason for three games per opponent w/i your division).

  1. Season Ending Tournament -
    1. Using the two four teams divisions as a example

                                                               i.      Call one division White and the other division Blue

ii.      Use the divisional standing for the tournament seating.

1.      White 1st place team plays Blue 4th place team

2.      White 2nd place team plays Blue 3rd place team

3.      White 3rd place team plays Blue 2nd place team

4.      White 4th place team plays Blue 1st place team

iii.      Would play a single elimination tournament

  1. All-Stars team would be picked from each division (All Stars only applicable to 9U and up, 7U and 8U do not participate in All Stars) -
    1. Two all-stars teams (one for each division)
    2. 12 player per team
    3. Should be one player from each team
    4. The Commissioner will form a 3 person committee prior to season end to validate the worthiness and interest of the potential 1st place regular season coach to be All-Star Manager (or select someone else if the individual is not deemed fit). The committee’s selection should be presented to the Director of the All-Star Series prior to Championship Week.
